Spring 2007
Long standing RELATIONSHIPS are often discussed and treasured, but as is true with all good things in life, they require considerable effort. B+R Partners was founded with a 50-year friendship between two life-long buddies - Ed Brooks + Bob Rule. Our history began in the third grade; and it encompasses a long litany of Little League games, shared grass-cutting jobs, and contested girl friends.
Recently, another RELATIONSHIP was added when Roger Rule joined B+R Partners. To salute the history of our RELATIONSHIPS, we decided to ponder upon the witticism and wisdom of the following:
Why does a woman work ten years to change a man's habits and then complain that he's not the man she married ?
Often the difference between a successful partnership and a mediocre one consists of leaving about three or four things a day unsaid.
"You'll always be my best friend, you know too much!"
People say New Yorkers can't get along. Not true. I saw two New Yorkers, complete strangers, sharing a cab. One guy took the tires and the radio; the other guy took the engine.
No matter how happy a man is in his job, it always pleases him to discover that there is another employer who wishes he was not.
Why pay money to have your family tree traced? Go into politics and your opponents will do it for you.
You know that children are growing up when they start asking questions that have answers.
Who of us is mature enough for offspring before the offspring themselves arrive? The value of marriage is not that adults produce children, but that children produce adults.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
(Said under oath) Question: What was the first thing your husband said to you when he woke that morning? Answer: He said, 'Where am I, Cathy?' Question: And why did that upset you? Answer: My name is Susan.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
