Summer 2006

There has been an amazing shift in American culture recently in that Hollywood movie makers seem to be focusing substantial efforts on films that touch religious and/or spiritual nerves. First, it was The Passion of Christ, then Left Behind, and recently the Chronicles of Narnia and End of the Spear.

Even 'mainstream' movies such as Sister Act, Patch Adams, The Apostle, Amistad, and The Sixth Sense resonate with a Higher Being. Now that the Da Vinci Code has exploded onto the screen, considerable angst and conversation has ensued. It seems that the old cliché: "Don't talk about Religion or Politics" is becoming a thing of the past. Perhaps these one-liners will give pause, but pause with a smile !!

Don't let your worries get the best of you; remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited until you try to sit in their pew.

The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.

People who gripe about their church should realize that if it was perfect, they couldn't belong.

God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. Why should we?

It is difficult to understand why some people change churches; what difference does it make from which one they do not attend?

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

God loves everyone, but probably prefers 'Fruits of the Spirit' over 'Religious Nuts'.

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisors.
